RESULT

Designed and shipped the MVP in 2 months

TLDR;

I owned the MVP design from early research to market.

My area of work included ;

product

A self assessment and customized job finding platform, which helps candidates upskill and things they are lacking and eventually find their life’s work.

Problem

The gap between number of jobs available and jobseekers is massive. This leads to a huge number of unqualified candidates applying to jobs. Making it difficult to filter them and select the best candidates.

Solution

I redesigned the core flow, introducing multiple new features like resume assessment and personalized roadmap with a refined visual language. The model allowed users visualize their progress and get feedback at every milestone.

Result

The redesign gave the team a polished launch ready product with improved and tested user flows.

PROBLEM

There is a massive gap between number of job openings available wit respect to job seekers.

Candidates apply to jobs without having any idea about where they stand in the competition for their job profile.

Even after applying to 1000s of jobs, job seekers neither have idea what their profile is lacking, nor what they should improve in to increase their chances of getting their life’s work

The main challenge was validating their job profiles , aligning and then guiding users to personalized upskilling routes.

Approach

I started with conducting interviews with the founders and other stakeholdersnto understand their vision and get understanding of the product

Holistic working of the product helped define features and user journeys

The goal was to understand if their vision aligned with was feasible and essential for the problem we were attempting to solve

User interviews and research

Next I conducted multiple interviews with the target demographic and user profiles:

The interviews focused on

Different states users go through while job searching process

Things they look for and consider while upskilling.

KEY FINDIGS

User behavior

Learning path hopping : People keep switching between different ways of learning instead of sticking to one

Research rabbit holes : Users spend more time searching for the best resource than actually learn or build.

Pain points

01

Resource fragmentation

Learning content, notes, tools, and progress are spread across different apps, making it hard to stay organized.

02

Lack of validation

Users constantly look for reassurance that they're learning the right thing or making the right career decisions before taking action.

User flow and discussions

After talking with the team and founder I ideated and presented a a user flow across the decisions and journey each user will have to tale while using the product.

Opportunities

Based on all the discussions and research we prioritized these features

Based on stakeholders interviews, overarching themes and market research.

We decided to go ahead with these features.

01

Job and seeker profile matching.

A screen communicates how the users profile matches the job profile.

02

Profile ranking

It gives user an idea of where they stand in the market for his liking of roles.

It gives user an idea of where they stand in the market for his liking of roles.

03

Upskilling roadmap and dashboard

A personalized roadmap to get upskill for their desired role.

04

Track Application status

After applying a home checking status of their applications.

Final solution and core screens

A easy to comprehend and cohesive product.

Restrospective

This experience sharpened my design and product thinking skills.

Simplicity is harder than complexity

Removing complexity made the product easier to understand and use

Removing complexity made the product easier to understand and use

Business understanding matters as much as design

Every design decision was informed by business goals and user needs.

Product design is inherently collaborative

Gained experience balancing user needs, business objectives and technical constraints while shaping the product.
